Instead of turning into the human equivalent of a barnacle, try showing your appreciation by giving them space to think their thoughts without getting paranoid about it. Could be they have their minds on work or something that has nothing to do with you. Am I saying everything might not be about you? Use your excellent judgment and figure that one out for yourself.
